Women's Reserves Earning Praise

The VHFC Female U/20's played the Gorge U/14 boys Gold team, who are representing Victoria in the Provincial B Cup in July, last Sunday (June 20th), battling to a 3-3 draw.
Character and heart were on display as the girls impressively fought back from a goal down on three occasions, impressing coaches Dave Dew and Doug Bisson.
Also on Wednesday night the Highlanders Reserve Women took on the Highlanders Women's first team and lost 4 - 1 in a very competitive game. Liz Hansen made it 1-0 on a penalty at 28:00 and the Reserves tied it at 28:00 on a goal by Sara Douglas; a great individual effort beating two defenders.
At 53:00 minutes Meaghan Schaefer made it 2-1, and a minute later Steph Davidson scored on a header from Ashley Porter's cross.
The final goal for the First team was at 70:00 minutes by Jackie Snell.
Head Coach, Dave Dew was very impressed with the way the Reserves competed. So much so, that he has asked Michelle Mezei and Shannon Elder to come up and play with the first team on their road trip next weekend for games against Chilliwack and Okanagan Whitecaps.

Next up for the Reserves is a return match with the Gorge U/14 boys, this Sunday at 12:30 at Hampton Park.
