A very strong West Vancouver team lead by player/coach Rosalyn Hicks made the trip over to a very windy Pacific Institute field in Victoria to play the Peninsula Co-op Women's team. The strong winds played a part in a bit of a scrambly game played by both teams. When the teams played the ball under the wind the passing was quite nice by both sides. Peninsula Co-op team, playing with the wind, took the lead on a nice goal scored by Janelle Smith off a well played diagonal ball from Katie Krauetner. The first half ended 1-0 Co-op. In the second half the Co-op team was playing into the wind forcing them to keep the ball on the ground which helped them keep possesion and build the play up a bit more. The second goal also scored by Janelle Smith from a pass by Sarah Lefebvre after some great combination 1 and 2 touch passing. Throughout the game West Van threatened the Co-op goal with some great shots from distance only to have them saved by the very solid Co-op goalies. Sam Behm and Shelby Walker combined for the shutout. Next up for the Co-op reserves are back to back away games vs. Farser Valley Saturday June 16th and the Whitecap Reserves on Sunday June 17th. After next weekend the reserves will have 6 straight home games all to be played at Hampton Park in Victoria.
