Tough weekend for Pen Co-op Reserves

Posted on: Sunday, June 24, 2012

Not a lot to say about this weekend other than the Reserve women competed very well against two of the top teams in the Pacific Coast Soccer leagues premier division.  The reserves did very well in brutal conditions against the very tough Vancouver Thunderbirds losing 1-0 backstopped by the excellent goaltending of Shelby Walker.  On Sunday things did not get any easier as the undefeated Fraser Valley team brought their skill and physical play to the Hampton Park turf.  Fraser Valley led most of the game 1-0 scoring a second goal very late in the game after the Reserves pushed up looking for an equalizer. Goaltender Sam Behm made a number of quality saves to keep things close.  Despite the two losses the young reserve squad showed very well and unfortunately were not able to finish the chances they created. Next game for the Peninsula Co-op Reserve Women is Satuday June 30th vs. TSS (Total Soccer Systems) 2pm Kick-off at HAmpton Park Turf.
