Victoria Highlanders Society

Victoria Highlanders Supporters Board

The Highlanders supporters board is a democratic not-for-profit society of supporters, committed to strengthening the communities’ support of the club.  It will be legally registered and regulated, and can hold assets like a company can. This means any money raised or shares bought would belong to all members equally, and not be held by individuals.  Owner, Alex D. Campbell, has relinquished 30% of his shares to this new Supporters Board.

Who Runs The Supporters Board?

You run the supporters board! As we work towards our first Supporters Board, the Club will manage the election process.  Any 2013 Highlanders season ticket holder is eligible to stand for a position on the Supporters Board.  There are seven available positions;

  • Chair

  • Vice-Chairman
  • Communications & PR
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • (2) directors at large

Why A Supporters Board?

We envision a strong working relationship with the Supporters Board in an effort to providing a true supporters voice to ownership and senior management at the club.  The club sees this as an opportunity for the Supporters Board to assist the club in growing our membership base, and the best way to do that is to allow for opinions when decisions are being made.

Do We Run The Club?

Day-to-day club operations will be handled by senior club management.  However, two (2) members of the Supporters Board will join the Highlanders Board of Advisors.  This board meets quarterly to provide insight and input into the general direction, goals and objectives of the club.  The Highlanders Board of Advisors consists of the following positions;

  • Owner, Alex D. Campbell
  • General Manager, Mark deFrias
  • (2) Supporters Board Members
  • (5) Business Community Members (selected by senior club management)

What do we get to vote on?

  • 7 elected members to your Supporters Board (terms TBD by membership)
  • 2 members to Board of Advisers (min. requirements)
  • Uniforms, merchandise, ticket pricing, etc. (as presented by VHFC staff)
  • General Manager (2 year terms)
  • 30% profits of VHFC

The Supporters Board election process has now started and we will be receiving nominations for any of the 7 board positions untill Tuesday February 19th.

Please contact Sheila Taylor (staylor@victoriahighlandersfc.com) if you would like to nominate yourself or some other 2013 Highlanders season ticket holder to the board.

Voting will be carried on shortly after nominations have been submitted.
